Meet Our Directors!

Nakita Stevens
Director
As a mother of four, I bring both personal and professional experience to the world of childcare. Since 2015, I've had the privilege of working with children of all ages in a variety of childcare settings. I'm a firm believer that play is the foundation of early learning, and I strive to create environments where children feel safe, supported, and curious. While I enjoy working with every age group, the infant room holds a special place in my heart.
Supporting babies as they reach new milestones is incredibly fulfilling, and I'm dedicated to nurturing their growth with patience, intention, and genuine care.

Jennifer Gates
Director
My name is Jennifer Gates. I have worked in the Early Childhood Education field for thirty years and have a degree in Early Care and Education, as well. Over this time, I have served as an educator, Curriculum Specialist, consultant, and administrator.
I am originally from New Jersey and moved to South Carolina in 2011. I am married with two amazing boys, two dogs and five cats. I love learning about American History and reding. I am also a huge Tim Burton Fan.
As the Director of Connect Kids, I will ensure to provide a nurturing and learning conducive environment that caters to the whole child. I will build relationships with families and the community and assure that every person that enters our school family is welcome, encouraged and above all, feels that Connect Kids is a safe space to grow and be successful throughout their early childhood years.

Martha Alhouse
Assistant Director
Seeing the pure joy on a child’s face first thing in the morning is the perfect start to my day. My name is Martha Alhouse, and I am the Assistant Director at our Conway location.
After earning my degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education, I began my childcare career at KinderCare Learning Center in Hampton, VA. I started as a 3-year-old teacher and eventually worked my way up to Director. My husband’s naval career took our family to Lakehurst, NJ, where I joined the Child Development Center on base as a toddler teacher. We later returned to Norfolk, VA, where I became a 3-year-old teacher at the Langley Air Force Base Child Development Center. My next chapter brought me to Connect Kids in 2024, and I am grateful to be part of this wonderful community.
Throughout my career, I have cherished watching children of all ages grow and explore through learning and play. It is truly my pleasure and privilege to support your children as they learn and thrive.

Donna Tobin
Assistant Director
Hello everyone, my name is Donna. I'm a dedicated mother, a hardworking professional, and someone who has always had a deep passion for caring for children. Six years ago, I made the move to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with my kids in search of a fresh start. It wasn't easy, but it remains one of the best decisions I've ever made. My son, Aiden, now 20, and my daughter, Alyssa, 15, have grown tremendously, and together we've built a wonderful life here.
With more than 22 years of experience in childcare, I now serve as the Assistant Director at Connect Kids—a role that truly means the world to me. I take great pride in supporting our teachers, partnering with families, and helping create a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued, and happy. For me, this work is more than a career—it's a calling and a purpose.
